Rocking Retro In S/S 2015

The 1970's disco vibe stomping the fashion runways for s/s collection like a flashy dance floor.

Fashion is known to go around and around like a spinning vinyl, bringing back old classic trends with modern twists and sparks that create new fresher interpretations that transform our wardrobes into whirls of vintage influenced pieces.

So it's no surprise to see this spring/summer 2015 collections filled with metallic, high shine heels, jewel- encrusted skirts and bright, over the top retro floral outfits. Flowy lengthened skirts and dresses that were famous with the free love idealised hippies are also a big feature. Think fierce, fun and fabulously glamorous...

The bold statement of the inspiration by the decade of free love, rock and roll legends and flat form shoes, is something I absolutely adore! Being back old vintage styles is something I admire when it comes to latest trends, especially when the collections look so good.

However maybe some of these designers' collections are just too liberal, maybe a tad cliche with lack of the carefree vibe the seventies were known for having.

Floral and fringe are big features in collection I strongly like recently. Adding quirky floral or toned down coloured clothing pieces with washed out denim is a key combination for you guys to consider for your future spring outfits.

With sugary pastels being so popular for the a/w collection last year, it only seems right that some designers still insisted on using tints of those sweet colours into their inspired collections like Gucci.

Shaggy hair is seen on a lot of the beautiful models rocking down the runways, centre partings also being a big craze. Relaxed and easy going hair is key from that time, where everything was free and not at all uptight - the opposite right now. This could show how this season could in fact show a little more carelessness instead of a busy lifestyle all of us seem to have lately.

This season brings memories and retro revival back with highly popular and well known historical fashion pieces. Prada showcasing tapered collar coats (1970 was the year those were worn a lot, Gucci bringing back lace up mini dresses (1970) and Bolero furs were a throwback for Saint Laurent (1971).

However the designer that I think is definitely the king of the disco dance floor is Henry Holland // House of Holland. Striking London Fashion Week with his outgoing and brightly retro creations, wacky collaborations with clashing colours and prints really did hit the right amount of glamour and freedom for the perfect groovy seventies vibe. Well done Henry!

Vintage is one of the key aspects for the current season's look - best explore to your grandma's or mum's wardrobe now for a classic seventies outfit, or head to your local charity shop.

Topshop are also on the quick side of returning the retro and coming soon to their website are some new inspired pieces you'll die for, including a summery Daisy printed laid back dress with a pussy-bow front that Cara Delevingne just rocks! You should go look now, I'm waiting impatiently for it to come out!!

Topshop's own daisy print retro dress is on of top
lists for this season!

Fashion is known for jumping into the future with one eye still on the past, and so it should be. This season is going to go its own way and simply rock the fashion world like its own disco dance floor , no matter what music booms over its speakers.

This is definitely a #ThrowbackThrusday hashtag moment for sure, But I'm excited!

[Song for this is the perfectly flawless Lana del rey with her song 'Florida Kilos'. Personally it reminds me of the wild, free loving seventies with drugs and love and beauty. The groovy sounds are definitely similar to the bright floral designs in the collections.]
